Summer in Montreal usually means one thing to me…Quebec Strawberries! I just cant get enough of them. Don’t get me wrong, I love having strawberries (make that all berries) stocked in my fridge all year round, but given our harsh winters down here in Montreal, we have to have most of our fruit imported during the colder months.
But during the summer, it’s time for our locally grown berries to shine! I love taking trips to the farmers market and picking up a giant mouthwatering basket of strawberries! The season may be short, but its the perfect time to take advantage of eating locally grown food, and experimenting in the kitchen to create new and delicious recipes.
I mean, just look at them, don’t you just want to take a bite right out of them?
These local strawberries are so sweet and juicy, they really satisfy your sweet tooth without needing any added sugar! They’re like nature’s own clean-eating candies! They work perfectly for my healthy strawberry cheesecake smoothie bowl. This smoothie bowl simple, fresh, and mouthwatering. Not to mention the nutritional benefits it has to offer; the strawberries are packed with fiber and vitamins, while the Greek yogurt adds a healthy dose of protein. If you are unable to eat dairy in your diet, you can substitute this Greek yogurt with a dairy-free yogurt, or even with a soft tofu!
A healthy smoothie for the cheesecake lovers out there!
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (coconut yogurt for vegan option)
- 1/4 almond milk (or any other you prefer)
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 2-4 ice cubes
- Blend all ingredients together.
- Pour into your favorite bowl.
- Top with almonds & granola
*I like to top this smoothie bowl with clean-eating coconut chocolate chip granola!
