The Intercontinental Bali

During my recent trip to Bali one area I really loved exploring was the South. This included Uluwatu, and Jimbaran areas. One of my favourite and most memorable things about the South of Bali was the unparalleled sunsets.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Intercontinental Bali in Jimbaran for a couple nights. One of the most notable things about the resort is how true it stays to Balinese culture. There are so many little hotels and villas and restaurants in Bali that have more of an Australian influence than Balinese, (which don’t get me wrong, they’re great places too!) but the Intercontinental Bali had this soothing authenticity to it.

I stayed in the newly renovated singaraja room, which showcased Balinese design, including a hand painted mural on the wall! It was both cozy and spacious, with a balcony overlooking the garden.

Although I unfortunately hit a day of rain on my one full day at the Intercontinental, the resort had plenty to do despite the downpour. One of the highlights for me was trying the raw foods menu, which included a completely raw pizza, and raw Cesar salad. I also enjoyed an assortment of teas during high tea, as well as evening cocktails by the sunset bar, while (of course) watching the sunset!

My day was completed with a traditional Balinese massage, which was the perfect relaxing end to the day. One thing I really appreciated at their spa was being able to select from a choice of three massage oils. (I opted for the ginger oil!)

I’m hoping to return to Bali in the dry season (if your planning a trip remember January can be quite rainy!) to experience some more activities and the beaches. The Intercontinental Bali is a great location to stay, and offers organized activities all on site.
