5 restaurants you need to eat at in Tulum
If you take a trip to Tulum, you’ll notice that the area is filled with tons of incredible places to eat. It really is a foodie’s dreamland with the most Insta-worthy restaurants! I did my best to eat my way through Tulum during my trip there and narrowed down this list of 5 restaurants you need to eat at in Tulum.
This list (for the most part) is, of course, focused on healthy vegetarian food with vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options.
If you’re looking for some dinner restaurants to go to while you’re in Tulum. I’d highly recommend trying Gitano, (their grilled avocado is a MUST) hartwood, or arca.
5 restaurants you need to eat at in Tulum
1. The real coconut
Let’s kick off the list with the ultimate healthy restaurant in Tulum, the real coconut! Their menu is entirely grain-free, refined sugar-free, and gluten-free. Their philosophy has a strong focus on sustainability and promoting digestive health. You’ll find tons of plant-based options here. The grain-free plantain flour pancakes, avocado toast, and homemade coconut yogurt are a must. Make sure to also ask for some phytoplankton shots to kick off the meal!
2. Macondo
This Moroccan style restaurant is located at Nomade hotel and features beautifully plated vegetarian dishes. If you’re looking for a cool setting to hang out for lunch or dinner, you’ll love Macondo. The seating is all cushions on the floor for a really laid back vibe. I tried the almond falafel, beetroot burger, and tempeh rice paper roll along with a couple of smoothies.
3. Moro
Moro is probably what I would list as the “hidden gem” of Tulum. Located in the recently opened Habitas hotel, this restaurant is definitely for the gourmet loving foodies out there. There are tons of great options including omelets, chia puddings, and toasts. The vegan toast with sunflower seed ricotta is a must, and if you’re feeling in the mood for a treat you have to try the french toast with banana caramel and poppyseed whip cream. (possibly one of the yummiest things I’ve ever eaten…)
4. Raw love
If you’ve looked up anything about healthy food in Tulum, you’ve probably come across Raw Love. Tucked away in the jungle Raw Love serves up a variety of smoothie bowls, drinks, and a few raw dishes. My favorite was the raw pad thai and their lattes. I tried the mushroom & cocoa latte which was filled with adaptogens like reishi and chaga. (It was delish!)
5. Matcha mama
Last on the list we’ve got matcha mama. You can’t miss the little stand on the side of the road! It’s the perfect place to stop for an afternoon refreshment of some matcha, (duh) or a smoothie bowl. If you’re feeling a little too hot make sure to grab their matcha on ice! They also offer a choice of plant-based milks to choose from for your latte. I also tried their acai cup for a refreshing snack!
Have you tried any of these restaurants in Tulum or know of any other amazing restaurants? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
