Montreal’s essential healthy eateries
If there’s one question I get a lot of e-mails about or messages on Instagram, it’s “do you have any restaurant recommendations for Montreal?” I’ve also gotten tons of requests to put together a post on my favourite spots in the city.
Well, here it is!
These are some of my all time favourite (mostly) healthy restaurants in Montreal!
Crudessence
Okay guys. This one is for all the raw-lovin foodies out there! Almost everything on the menu is raw, except for a few select cooked items. Anything you choose to eat you will be guaranteed a healthy meal. There are two locations in Montreal as well, my favourite being on Rachel street. If it’s a nice day take a walk on the Mountain just up the street, then head to Crudessence for a healthy lunch! My personal favourites there include their Kale Cesar salad, and raw pad Thai.
Lov
If your looking for a cute and trendy restaurant that is practically all vegan this is your dream restaurant! (Their menu is 90% vegan with some options of eggs & dairy) First, lets talk about the decor. Lov is filled with Beautiful marble tables, hanging terrariums, and swinging egg chairs. Now for the food. The food is made to match the trendy decor. Every dish is unique and styled for that #instaworth shot! Their smoothies are to die for, as are their quinoa fritters. (One of my favourites!)
Venice Mtl
If your looking for a little piece of California right in Montreal, you have to go to Venice! Though not totally a vegetarian restaurant, there are plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options to accommodate any diet! I love coming here especially in the winter to feel like I escaped to sunny Venice beach in Cali. Once you sit down in this cafe you’ll know exactly what i mean. The walls are filled with surf boards, neon signs, and palm plant. The food is also inspired by California living. The menu is loaded with fresh salads, poke bowls, and tacos. Make sure not to miss out on their panko tofu poke bowl and acai bowl!
Lola Rosa
Raise your hand if you love Mexican food! If you raised your hand, you definitely need to stop at Lola Rosa. This vegetarian restaurant is perfect if your looking for a more home-style cozy meal. Their dishes range from healthy options (like their salads), to less healthy options, (like their poutine or nachos) but there is definitely something for everyone! Though their Mexican inspired food is amazing, they also serve up some great other dishes like curry tempeh, and Lasagna. (both a vegetarian and vegan option!) My personal favourite is their hemp burger and make sure not miss out on their vegan donuts available for brunch!
Mandy’s Salad Bar Old Port
Mandy’s salad bar has recently opened their fourth location in Montreal’s Old Port. Firstly, let me jump right in to how the decor of this salad bar is on point. Black & white tiled floors, tropical leaf print wall paper, and retro neon signs is what you’ll get when you walk in. The menu consists of mainly (you guessed it) salads! A huge array of salads to satisfy every palette, as well as the option to make your own. The old port location also has a specialty menu featuring some speciality salads and bowls. I tried the burrito bowl with warm braised brown rice, (which was AMAZING) the superfood salad, and the endless summer. Really you can’t go wrong with any salad choice!
Velish
Alright, where do I start with Velish…maybe with the fact that they bottle their own homemade almond milk and fresh pressed juices you can take on the go! (finding natural almond milk in Montreal is a huge win!) I went to the location in marche des eclusiers in the old port. The space is outdoors which is perfect for summer, and this adorable little health bar serves up acai bowls, smoothies, and incredible salads. Everything you’ll find on the menu is healthy, made with natural ingredients, and plant-based. (except for a few smoothies that include honey) Go for a nice lunch and make sure to grab one of their bottled cold-brew almond milk lattes to go!
Hi Jess! All of these places are my favorite too! I haven’t tried the quinoa fritters at LOV yet, but you’ve convinced me to try them out next time 🙂
Hi Julie! They’re really delicious! Lov also has a new location on De La Montagne. So exciting!
YUM!!!!
So good!
