Over the past year or so I’ve developed some habits and rituals in my morning routine. Here are my 5 healthy morning rituals to start your day on the right track!

While I probably have a few more things that I do, (like brush my teeth…) I’ve decided to just include my top 5 healthy morning rituals to start your day in this post.
There are a few morning rituals that have become such an essential part of my morning routine.
Now I don’t have any scientific proof here or anything, but I truly believe that these morning rituals have a huge positive impact on my day.
Making sure I do these 5 things each morning helps me wake up and start my day in a calmer and more relaxed state of mind. I also find my mind to be more clear and ready to take on whatever tasks I have waiting for me that day.

It’s become such a norm in our society to rush everything, including waking up in the morning. So many people run out the door and don’t even have time to enjoy breakfast.
This year, I want to challenge you to slow down your morning and take some time for yourself to practice these rituals!
If you need to, try waking up a little earlier in the morning (and even going to bed a little earlier in the evening) so you can have some more time for yourself.
Self-care should be practiced every day. These 5 healthy morning rituals will help you start a daily self-care routine and help you create easy healthy habits to integrate into your daily life!
5 healthy morning rituals to start your day
1. Morning meditation
The first thing I do in the morning after my alarm goes off is a morning meditation practice. I do this lying in bed because that’s where I’m more comfortable, but you can practice meditation sitting upright too.
This doesn’t have to be a long meditation. I usually do about 5 minutes, but even taking 10 deep breathes can be a great way to start the day. I usually use a meditation app ( I like both headspace, and calm) to follow a guided meditation.
2. Journaling
After getting out of bed, I always do some sort of writing or journaling. Currently, I’m using two different journals: The five-minute journal and the productivity planner.
The first one is great for setting intentions and daily affirmations, and the second one I use to plan out my work day. I can’t stress enough how journaling has helped me start my day off on the right foot! You can also just use a regular journal or even notepad.
Write down your daily affirmations, (i.e. “today will be a great day!”) your to-do list, or anything else that is on your mind that you’d like to get out.
3. Enjoy a hydrating drink or some tea
I generally start my mornings with a glass of lemon water, followed by a cup of matcha tea. This has become one of my favorite rituals in the morning! I can’t stress enough how important it is to hydrate after you wake up.
If your a coffee person, don’t worry, you can still have your cup of coffee instead of tea. Just remember to drink a glass of water as well!
4. Exercise
Walk. Do yoga. Go to a Workout class. Run…It doesn’t really matter what type of exercise you do in the morning just do something!
I start each day with a 30 minute-60 minute workout. This can be anything from an hour-long strength training class at the gym to 30 minutes of gentle yoga.
Even if you only have 5 minutes in the morning to exercise, do some jumping-jacks or a sun salutation. Getting your blood flowing will help wake you up and feeling your best in the morning.
5. Eat breakfast
I can’t tell you how often I hear about people that skip breakfast. Even if you’re not that hungry in the morning, try and enjoy a light breakfast, like a piece of fruit or a handful of almonds.
Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day! Eating breakfast will help get your metabolism going and also fuel your brain so your ready to take on whatever your day has coming.

Hi choosing chia, you have inspired me to work on my church ministry on living a healthy life for women.
thanks.
god bless
Thank you so much Maria! Happy to inspire 🙂
Such a great post! I’ve started doing 15 minutes of yoga and 5 minutes of meditation in the morning and it makes such a big difference in my day. I find that if I push exercise to the evening after work, I end up too tired or busy and skip my workout. Morning workouts are the way to go! 🙂
Hi Caroline! I’m the same way with working out. The days can get so busy and it gets so easy to come up with excuses as the day goes on to skip a workout, or yoga, or meditation. Doing it in the morning is the best way to start the day and whatever happens you know you took that time for yourself! 🙂
Paz e luz

Hi Carolina! I used google translate to translate your message to English! I’m so glad you liked this blog post and find it helpful! I hope you can find most of the ingredients in Brazil. It is helpful sometimes to order some ingredients online (i’ve found some often on Amazon.com) if you cannot find them in stores! 🙂
Hi Jess,
I am so proud of you. I love what you’ve accomplished. You’re magnetic!! Love your writing and photography, you have a real brand. I am so happy for you, you should be very proud of what you have achieved. Looks like you are loving it and I hope you are making some money too. We are up north and it looks gloomy and damp, so I don’t think I will venture out. I hope your family is all well. Please send love.
Love from one of your biggest fans,
Robin
