Healthy blueberry smoothie

While I often opt for a green smoothie in the morning, lately I’ve been drinking this blueberry avocado smoothie on REPEAT.

It’s bursting with blueberry flavour, has “hidden” veggies in it, and features avocado as the star ingredient for a smoothie that is loaded with healthy fats and omega-3s to keep you feeling full!

Blueberries are one of my favourite ingredients in recipes like Vegan Blueberry Donuts or Healthy Blueberry Muffins. They’re also one of my favourite Acai bowl ingredients to use. Between the three recipes, you can have a whole blueberry breakfast spread on your table.

Blueberry Avocado Smoothie FAQ

What does adding avocado to a smoothie do?

Adding avocado to a smoothie adds healthy fats and fibre to a smoothie as well as some added nutrients. The avocado also helps to create a thick and creamy texture.

Does avocado turn brown in a smoothie?

Nope! Since this smoothie is dark purple the avocado won’t turn brown in it.

Can you freeze avocado for smoothies?

Yes! Avocado freezes really well for smoothies. To freeze your avocados, wait until they are the perfect ripeness. (Soft, but not too squishy) Then peel, slice into cubes and store them in a freezer bag.

Can I make this smoothie ahead of time?

You can make this smoothie an hour or so ahead of time if needed, but I wouldn’t recommend making it the night before. The smoothie won’t be as thick and tasty.
