Recipe Variations

One of the best things about these Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges is how easy they are to customize! Whether you like a little spice, extra herbs, or even a touch of sweetness, there are so many ways to switch things up. Here are some fun variations to try:

  • Spicy Kick: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder for a little heat.
  • Sweet & Savory; Toss with a drizzle of maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  • Fresh Herbs: Swap the Italian herbs for fresh rosemary, thyme, or parsley for an herby boost.
  • Parmesan: Sprinkle with grated Parmesan after air frying for a cheesy finish.

What To Serve with Sweet Potato Wedges

These wedges are super versatile! They make a great sanck or appetizer to enjoy on their own, or they can be served with a variety of different dishes. Here are some great ways to enjoy them:

  • Burgers – A great side for veggie, turkey, or beef burgers. Try pairing these with my Vegan Beet Burgers.
  • Grilled Proteins – Pair them with chicken, steak, fish or tofu for a balanced meal.
  • Salads – Add them to grain bowls or leafy green salads for extra texture. They would taste great in this Kale White Bean Salad.
  • Dips – Serve with aioli, spicy mayo, honey mustard, or classic ketchup.

How to Store and Reheat

If you have leftovers (though they disappear fast! 😉 ), here’s how to keep them fresh:

  • Storage: Store cooled wedges in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day.
  • Reheating: For the best texture, reheat in the air fryer at 375°F for 3-5 minutes until crispy again. Avoid microwaving since it can make the wedges soggy.

Jess’s Tips

  1. Cut evenly: Keep the wedges the same thickness so they cook at the same rate.
  2. Don’t overcrowd : Air needs to circulate around the wedges for them to crisp up properly. Make sure to leave space between each wedge in the air fryer basket, and cook in multiple batches if needed.
  3. Toss with oil: While you can air fry without oil, the oil will help the wedges crisp up and give them a nice crispy exterior.
  4. Flip the wedges halfway through – This helps them cook evenly and get crispy all over.
  5. Adjust cook time– depedning on the size of the wedges, and your air fryer, you may need to cook the wedges slightly more or less. Keep an eye on them and cook until tender.
  6. Try different seasonings: Experiment with flavors. Add any seasoning you love!
  7. Serve immediately: They taste best fresh out of the air fryer when they’re hot and crispy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are my air fryer sweet potato wedges not crispy?

Make sure your air fryer isn’t overcrowded, and don’t skip tossing the wedges with a little oil. Cooking them in a single layer and flipping the wedges halfway through also helps!

What sauce should I serve with sweet potato wedges?

These sweet potato wedges pair great with ketchup, aioli, spicy mayo, guacamole or honey mustard sauce.

Do I need to soak the sweet potatoes first to make crispy sweet potato wedges?

Nope! Unlike regular potatoes, sweet potatoes don’t contain as much starch, so there’s no need to soak them before cooking.

Can I prepare Air fryer Sweet Potato Wedges ahead of time?

Sweet potato wedges are best fresh out of the air fryer, but you can prepare these ahead of time and then add them back to the air fryer at 380 F. for 3-4 minutes to warm and crisp up.

Can I make these sweet potato wedges in the oven?

Yes. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and bake in the oven at 425 F. for 20-25 minutes, flipping the wedges halfway through baking.
