What Are Frozen Yogurt Cups?

Frozen Yogurt Granola Cups are the perfect combination of creamy Greek yogurt, wholesome oats and fresh berries made in a muffin pan to create little frozen cups. These little cups are a fun way to enjoy fresh berries and yogurt instead of having these ingredients in a yogurt parfait or frozen yogurt bars.

This fun recipe can be enjoyed as a snack or dessert and can be modified any way you like. You can even make the recipe dairy-free by simply using a dairy-free yogurt.

Key Ingredients and Substitutions

ingredients to make frozen yogurt granola cups

  • Oats: Quick oats form the base of the granola, providing a soft texture. For a gluten-free option, use certified gluten-free oats.
  • Almond Butter: Adds richness and helps bind the granola together. Feel free to substitute with peanut butter or any other nut or seed butter of your choice. (You can also use soy butter.)
  • Cinnamon: Adds a touch of flavour to the granola crust.
  • Honey: Sweetens the granola naturally. Maple syrup or agave nectar can be used as alternatives.
  • Vanilla: Vanilla is used to flavour the granola and can also be used to flavour the Greek yogurt if you are using plain yogurt.
  • Greek Yogurt: Provides the creamy, tangy center of the cups. Opt for plain Greek yogurt that you can sweeten yourself, or if you prefer a flavoured Greek yogurt that works too.
  • Berries: Choose your favourite fresh berries such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or a mix for the topping.

How To Make Frozen Yogurt Cups

Step 1

Start by making the granola crust by mixing the oats, cinnamon, almond butter, honey and vanilla extract together in a bowl until it comes together.

Step 2

Use your hands to press the granola mixture into the bottom of a muffin pan lined with muffin liners. Then add a scoop of Greek yogurt into each cup.

Step 3

Top with fresh berries and additional crumbles of granola.

How To Store

Once prepared, store the Frozen Yogurt Granola Cups in an airtight container or freezer bag. They can be kept in the freezer for up to 2 months. When ready to enjoy, simply thaw for 5-10 minutes at room temperature before eating. (*It’s important to let them thaw or they’ll be too hard to bite into!)

Expert Tips For Making This Recipe

  • Line the Muffin Pan: To ensure easy removal, line the muffin pan with muffin liners. If you don’t have any muffin liners you can also grease the muffin pan.
  • Adjust The Crust: If the granola dough feels too dry, add another spoon of almond butter and honey.
  • Press Firmly: Press the granola mixture firmly into the bottom of each muffin cup to create a sturdy base. I like to use an extra muffin liner on top of the granola mixture to help me press the granola down so it doesn’t stick to my fingers.
  • Flavour the yogurt: If using plain Greek yogurt feel free to flavour it any way you like! Add vanilla, cocoa powder, sweeter, jams etc.
  • Variations: Get creative with toppings by adding nuts, seeds, or a drizzle of honey for extra flavour and texture.
  • Thaw Before Serving: These granola cups will get hard in the freezer so make sure to thaw them for 5-10 minutes before serving.
