This single-serve Air Fryer Apple Crisp is my answer when I want a quick, easy and healthy dessert ready in under 20 minutes. You can make just one portion or double or quadruple to the recipe to share with others. (Or just to have more all to yourself!)

Recipe Highlights
- Ready in under 20 minutes: the beauty of using an air fryer is that this recipe comes together quick for when you want an easy sweet treat.
- Single serve: the recipe makes one portion. Double, triple or quadruple as needed if you’d like to serve more.
- Healthy ingredients: apples, oats and warming spices make up the base of this apple crisp…it’s basically as healthy as a bowl of Apple Pie Oatmeal.
- Easy to customize: Swap the apple for blueberries, strawberry rhubarb, or pear and cranberry or any fruit you love.
- Gluten-free: this recipe is naturally gluten-free and can also be made dairy free by swapping butter with coconut oil.
Notes From My Kitchen
My Healthy Apple Crisp is one of my favourite autumn recipes on the blog, and my family makes it (multiple times) every single fall. It’s not complicated, but with baking time it takes about an hour to make, and some days I’m just not up for that.
This single serve air fryer apple crisp is my solution to those days where I just want something sweet after dinner (or any time of day) that’s ready in less than 20 minutes.
I tested 3 different variations of this recipe. Test 1 was baking the apples and the topping in one shot at 375 degrees…but I found this way just totally burned the topping and didn’t give the apples a change to soften. Test 2 I tried tenting the top with foil white baking to prevent it from burning. Which worked ok, but I found it steamed the crisp too much.
For test number 3 I thought: why don’t I cook the apples first, and then add the topping and cook for a few additional minutes. And the result? Perfection!

How To Make Air Fryer Apple Crisp
*This is a recipe overview. The full recipe with measurements and instructions can be found below in the recipe card.

Step 1: Mix the apple, lemon juice and cinnamon together.

Step 2: Mix the oats, oat flour, brown sugar, melted butter and cinnamon.

Step 3: Bake the crisp. (You’ll do 2 bakes: one with just the apples, and a second with the topping added.)

Step 4: Let cool slightly and enjoy!
Can I Make This In Oven?
The air fryer works great for the small size of this apple crisp and to have it ready fast, but if you don’t have an air fryer and still want to make this recipe, you can bake it in the oven at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes until golden on top.
How To Store
This crisp is best eaten fresh right out of the air fryer while the topping is still crisp, but it can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat it in the oven or air fryer until warm.
Jess’s Tips
- Use a small oven-safe ramekin: about 6 to 8 ounce range works best so the apple and topping cook evenly.
- Cook the apple first, always: this is the single biggest thing that changed the outcome for me. Give the apple its own time in the air fryer before adding the topping.
- Scaling up: this recipe doubles, triples, or quadruples easily. Just check how many ramekins actually fit in your air fryer basket, you may need to bake them in several batches.
- Eat it for breakfast: with apples and oats as the base, this is basically apple oatmeal in disguise. I make these often and eat them the next morning. Also try my Apple Chia Pudding for breakfast.
- Try a different fruit: blueberries like in my Gluten-Free Blueberry Crisp, strawberry rhubarb like in my Healthy Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp, and pear with cranberry are all favourites in my house.
- Watch the topping near the end: air fryers vary a lot by model, so start checking around the 4 minute mark of the second stage to make sure it doesn’t go from golden to too dark.
